Molly grew up in Pennsylvania and began to work professionally in the teen years at Philadelphia's Prince Music Theater. Her first professional production was The Snow Queen. She was then nominated as a Barrymore Award nominee for her role of Little Red Ridinghood at the Arden Theater's production Into the Woods. In 2002, she played the same role in Into the Woods in Broadway when she was 15 and received the Drama League Award nomination. Molly was also as a character in the Broadway version of Fiddler on the Roof in 2004. Then, she attended Princeton University and was a member of the Triangle Club.
